Sunday evening, June 23rd,  we will meet at the Gateway Lodge in Land O Lakes, Wi.  All planning to attend need to call the Lodge directly and make your reservations as soon as possible.  Identify yourself as a member of the Cavalcade Owners Group.  The phone number is 800-848-8058.  Speak with Lynn or Sandy.  Check the place out by going to their website at:  www.gateway-lodge.com.    They have promised us a 10% discount which brings the room price down to $67.45 plus 5.5% sales tax.

They do have a bar/beer garden with an outside deck.  Bar only serves frozen pizza, no burgers.  But Lynn said they will furnish us a charcoal grill and we can have our own cook out if we choose.  The parking lot is lighted and we can park where the front desk (staffed 24 hours) can see our bikes.   (see below about possible Sunday evening dining options)

On Monday, the 24th,  we have numerous options.  I am planning some interesting rides to scenic places.  I am open to your suggestions.  Some things we may like to see are Bond Falls near Paulding, MI. , Agate Falls, certainly Porcupine Mountains  State Park, Lake of the Clouds, great twisty U.P. roads to Houghton/Hancock, MI.

Monday & Tuesday (the 24th &25th)  we will be staying at the Mariner North Resort in Copper Harbor, MI.  The phone number there is 906-289-4637.  Call them directly, identify yourself as a member of the Cavalcade Owners Group, and make your reservations.  Speak with Carol or the owner, Peggy.  Check out their website at:  www.manorth.com.  Carol mentioned that often the chef likes to prepare a group dinner if we would like something like that.  They have agreed to a 10% discount on rooms/cabins.  The regular rate for motel rooms is $99 plus tax, rates for the 2-story, 2 bedroom cabin is $149 per night.  If 2 couples or 4 riders would like to share a cabin, that rate would be halved or quartered.  The discount comes off these regular rates.

Parking is right out the door.  Check out things to do in Copper harbor by visiting this wwebsite:  www.copperharbor.org.    Also, check out Brockway Mountain here : hthhenttp://www.michigan.org/property/brockway-mountain-drive/ttp://www.michigan.org/property/brockway-mountain-drive/tp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brockway_Mountain_Drive.  Lots of interesting info at the Wikipedia site.

We may wish to visit Fort Wilkins State Park in Copper Harbor.  Check out this website: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Wilkins_Historic_State_Park

I have found several restaurants open for Sunday evening supper in the Land O Lakes area.  One that is interesting is Bents Camp resort.  It is about 10 miles west of our motel on County Road B.  Check out there website at: www.bents-camp.com and let me know what you think.   I have never been there, but it looks like an interesting place. The gateway Lodge restaurant will not be open on sunday evenings I am told by their staff.
